Learning payments one detail at a time

When you speak with Alejandro Blanco Perez, one thing becomes immediately clear: operations is not just about processes. It is about people, patience, and paying attention to every single detail.

Alejandro is part of Alunafi’s operations team, where his role spans onboarding companies, monitoring incoming and outgoing payments, supporting clients, and ensuring timelines are respected. In a fast-growing fintech environment, that balance is not optional. It is essential.

“Every single detail matters when it comes to payments, onboarding, and clients.”

A big step into fintech

Joining Alunafi marked a major turning point in Alejandro’s career. He did not come from a payments or banking background, and stepping into a regulated fintech environment was both exciting and demanding.

What made the difference was the team.

From day one, Alejandro describes a culture where colleagues support each other through new challenges, share knowledge openly, and grow together. That environment allowed him to learn quickly and gain confidence in an industry where acting on impulse is never an option.

“This type of job requires a lot of patience and analysis. You cannot just act by impulse.”

Growing with the company

As Alunafi grew, so did Alejandro’s responsibilities. Starting in a lean operations setup with just a couple of people handling everything, he learned how each part of the system works: payments, onboarding, customer support, and internal coordination.

Rather than specialising too early, Alejandro chose to stay close to every aspect of operations.

“I like doing everything. I try to keep everything fresh in my mind
so I do not forget what it means to start onboarding or to process payments.”

This hands-on, multitasking approach is one of the realities of startup life, and one of the things Alejandro enjoys most.

Personal challenges and small wins

One moment that stands out is when Alejandro set himself a personal challenge: onboarding five companies in a single week. It was ambitious. It was demanding. And he made it happen.

For him, these self-imposed goals are not about pressure. They are about progress.

“If I want to do something, of course I can do it. I can challenge myself every day here.”

That mindset reflects how he approaches his role overall: learning continuously, improving processes, and building confidence in areas that were once completely new.

Looking ahead to the next chapter

As Alunafi moves beyond its first months of live operations, Alejandro is focused on growth, both personal and collective. For the company, that means becoming even more reliable, improving client satisfaction, and strengthening operational foundations. For himself, it means continuing to evolve alongside the business.

“When the company grows, I grow as well.”

There is no single role he wants to focus on more than others. For Alejandro, every part of operations is equally important, and understanding the full picture is what allows him to do his job better.

The reality behind the scenes

If there is one thing he would change with a magic wand, it would be time. Operations never truly stop, and there is always more to do. Yet despite the workload, Alejandro remains grounded and positive.

“I am used to being happy with what I have and trying to do the best with it.”

That mindset, combined with patience, curiosity, and resilience, is what quietly powers Alunafi’s day-to-day operations.

Behind every smooth payment flow is someone making sure nothing is left to chance.
Alejandro is one of them.
